Iowa Item -- First-team All-American in javelin (2024)… 2024 B1G Javelin Champion (266-4, 81.19m), earning Men’s Field Event Athlete of the Championships honors… set Iowa school record in javelin (266-4, 81.19m)… letterwinner.

2025 -- Indoor - Did not compete. 

2024 -- Indoor – Did not compete… Outdoor – First-team All-American, placing seventh in javelin at NCAA Championships (238-10, 72.81m)… B1G Javelin Champion, throwing a school record-setting 266-4 (81.19m) and earning Men’s Field Event Athlete of the Championships honors… that mark also qualified him for U.S. Olympic Trials… won javelin at USF Alumni Invite (260-0, 79.26m), earning co-B1G Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors… placed third in javelin at NCAA West Preliminary (245-4, 74.78m)… placed 21st in javelin at U.S. Olympic Trials (203-4, 61.98m)… Academic All-Big Ten… letterwinner.

2023 -- Indoor – Did not compete… Outdoor – Won javelin with a then-school record-setting 248-0 (75.59m) at Desert Heat Classic… placed fourth in javelin at B1G Championships (230-5, 70.23m)… won javelin at U20 Pan American Championships (234-2, 71.38m) and placed second at U20 USATF Championships (215-11, 65.81m)… Dean’s List student (Fall 2022)… letterwinner.

High School -- Learned how to throw javelin in a state that doesn’t offer that event at high school level… won javelin at Central College Meet, and two meets at Mount Mercy in 2021… member pf Drake Relays qualifying 400-meter relay team as a freshman… third team all-state baseball player, earning two all-district honors as an outfielder and three all-conference honors as a pitcher… coached by Scott Fuchs, Bill Miller and Kevin Foster.

Personal -- Born March 25, 2004… parents are David and Ann Stein… father competed in track and field at Drake University… has two siblings – Joe and Mari… brother, Joe, is also a member of the Hawkeye track and field team… sister, Mari, is a top runner for the Dutch track and cross country teams at Central College… enterprise leadership major.
