Emily Hovren Season 2013-14

Hawk Item — School-record-holder in 200-IM (2:00.42) and as a member of the 200-free (1:31.68), 400-free (3:21.07) and 800-free (7:14.99) relays… has the third-best 200-free (1:48.93) and fifth-fastest 100 free (50.51) times… has third and fifth-best times in 400-medley relay, third, fourth, sixth and 10th-fastest times in 400-free relay, and the second and fourth-best 800-free relay times.

2013-14 — Set the school record as a member of the 400 (3:21.07) and 800-free relays (3:21.07)… swam to the third-fastest 200-free time in program history (1:48.93) at Big Ten Championships… recorded season-best times in the 100-free (50.52) and 200-IM (2:01.86) at Big Ten Championships and in the 50-free (23.95) at the Hawkeye Invitational… swam to four top-two finishes in relays, including a victory in the 400-free relay at Iowa State… registered 13 top-five finishes… recipient of the Stength and Conditioning Award… academic All-Big Ten… letterwinner.

2012-13 — Posted a school-record and NCAA ‘B’ qualifying time in the 200 IM (2:00.42) at the Big Ten Championships en route to a 13th place finish… also swam a collegiate best in 200 free (1:49.51) at the Big Tens, finishing 22nd… was a member of the team-leading 400 (3:22.31) and 800 (7:14.99) free relays at the Big Ten Championships… named Academic All-Big Ten… recipient of the Strength and Conditioning Award… posted 15 top-five finishes… letterwinner… competed at the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championship Trials in the 200-meter IM, finishing 30th with a time of 2:20.07.

2011-12 — Led the team in the 200 IM (2:02.57)… swam collegiate best times in the 100 free (50.51), 200 free (1:50.15) and 200 IM (2:02.57) at the Big Ten Championships… also swam a collegiate best time in the 50 free (23.98) at the Hawkeye Invitational… member of the 200 free relay (1:31.68) that set a school record at the Big Ten Championships… named Academic All-Big Ten… recorded 16 top-five finishes… won the 100 free and 200 free at Iowa State and vs. Illinois… swam on six winning relays… letterwinner.

2010-11 — Swam collegiate best times in the 50 free (24.10) and 200 IM (2:06.13) at the Hawkeye Invitational, 100 free (51.43) and 200 free (1:51.72) vs. Iowa State and 500 free (5:07.64) vs. Northern Iowa and Western Illinois… member of the 400 medley relay (3:41.87) that set a school record and met an NCAA `B’ qualifying time at the Big Ten Championships… also a member of 400 free relay (3:22.73) that swam an NCAA `B’ qualifying time… won the 100 free (51.43) and 200 free (1:51.72) vs. Iowa State… recorded 17 top-five finishes… swam on six winning relays… letterwinner.

High School — Set school records in the 200 IM (2:08.62) and 200 free relay (1:39.27)… three-time all-state honoree… two-time team MVP… finished in the top five at the state meet three times.

Personal — Born Feb. 28, 1992… daughter of Mark and Judy Hovren… majoring in marketing and a certifiicate in international business and a minor in Spanish.
