Klinkenborg Named to Lott Watch List

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa linebacker Mike Klinkenborg has been named to the 2007 Lott Trophy Watch List. The Hawkeye senior-to-be is among 42 of the top defensive players in the nation on the watch list.

Named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, The Lott Trophy is awarded to college football’s Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. Now in its fourth year, The Lott Trophy is the first college football award to equally recognize athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player.

Klinkenborg is a 6-2, 240-pound senior from Rock Rapids, IA. His 129 tackles were ninth best in the country last year. He is also an Academic All-Big Ten selection with a 3.99 GPA. Klinkenborg was named National Defensive Player of the Week following his play against Syracuse last year.
