COLUMBUS, Ohio — The No. 69 University of Iowa women’s tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 57 Ohio State today at the Varsity Indoor Tennis Center.
No. 34 Ruth Seaborne and Morven McCulloch gave Iowa a solid start with an 8-2 win over Kara Cecil and Noelle Malley, improving their doubles record to 12-3. The Buckeyes then served the Hawkeyes defeats at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to secure the doubles point.
Shelby Talcott picked up a straight-set victory over Fidan Manashirova (6-3, 6-2) to record Iowa’s lone point against Ohio State. Talcott’s victory improves her record to 10-5.
The Hawkeyes return to action against Indiana on March 5. The match will take place at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex, with doubles action beginning at 3:30 p.m.
