SEATTLE, Wash. – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team competed on the first day of the Husky Invitational, securing two victories in both singles and doubles play.
In doubles, juniors Pia Kranholdt and Nikita Vishwase teamed up to secure a victory, defeating Washington State’s Elyse Tse and Madhu Satisbabu 6-4 in a competitive match.
In singles play, Kranholdt claimed a straight set win against Zehra Suko of Washington, 6-3, 6-1. Carina Syrtveit of Washington defeated Iowa’s Jessica Matthews 6-0, 6-3, and Catherine Gagnon of Washington came out on top against Vishwase after a three-set battle, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
The Hawkeyes will continue singles and doubles play tomorrow, beginning at 12 p.m. (CT).
