6 Personal Bests Mark Strong Finish to 2024 Regular Season

PEORIA, Ill. – The University of Iowa men’s and women’s cross country teams concluded their regular season on Friday, with six Hawkeyes setting personal records at the Bradley Pink Classic. The men placed third overall with 165 points, while the women finished tenth with 275 points.

On the men’s side, juniors Carson Houg (24:35.3), Hayden Kuhn (24:40.8) and freshman Ethan Eichhorn (24:38.0) set personal records in the 8,000-meter invite race. For the women, seniors Miriam Sandeen and Amber Aesoph set personal bests in the 6,000-meter invite, crossing the finish line at 21:05.6 and 21:10.0, respectively.

Junior Brayden Burnett led Iowa in the men’s race, crossing at 24:20.5 to place 29th. Sophomore Miles Wilson placed 34th (24:24.2), followed by Houg in 49th, while junior Will Ryan finished closely behind in 50th (24:36.0). Eichhorn wrapped up Iowa’s top five runners.

Sandeen and Aesoph were the Hawkeyes’ first two finishers for the women, placing 30th and 35th, respectively. Freshman Elena Torres followed in 44th (21:18.2). Juniors Jalyssa Blazek and Rowan Boutler finished in 84th (21:46.9) and 90th (21:53.8), landing in Iowa’s top five finishers, respectively.

The afternoon began with the men’s open 8,000-meter race, where freshman Armaan Chopra placed 65th in 26:51.3. The women’s open 6,000-meter race followed, where sophomore Audra Soderlind set her personal best with a time of 22:59.6, placing in 28th.

UP NEXT: The Hawkeyes will head to the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Illinois, on Nov. 1.
