University of Iowa swimming and diving faces a doubleheader this week, hosting St. Thomas for Senior Day on Friday and traveling to Ames to battle Iowa State on Saturday. The Hawkeyes will face the Tommies at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center at 5 p.m. Iowa will take on Iowa State in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Saturday. The matchup will begin at 1 p.m. in the Beyer Hall Pool.

LAST TIME OUT
University of Iowa swimming and diving defeated Illinois (193-179) and Nebraska (216-156) to improve to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in the Big Ten. At the CRWC, senior diver Lainey Woodward swept the one (312.05) and three-meter (218.65) springboards and neared her personal bests. In Champaign, the 400 free relay team of freshman Payton Flowers, sophomores Audrey Olen and Rachel Dildine and junior Jenna Kerr secured first place, touching the wall in 3:25.53. The following day, Flowers and Kerr continued the momentum, tallying three wins. Flowers picked up wins in the 50 (23.00) and 100 free (50.94), and Kerr clinched a win in the 200 free (1:51.01). Freshman diver Zita Bernatsky updated her season best and ninth overall record on the platform dive with a total of 229.90 points. The Hawkeyes sealed the wins after Flowers, Dildine, Olen and freshman Ella Jean Kelly placed first in the 200 free relay with a final time of 1:33.50.
SENIOR SENDOFF
Iowa swimming and diving will honor seven seniors at the meet on Friday night at the CRWC. Student manager Lauren Trent has been with the Hawkeyes for the past four seasons. Diver Geneva Pauly was named to the Big Ten Athletes to Watch list before the season. Pauly is a top-10 record holder in both the one-meter and platform dive. She has been named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree multiple times and competed for Iowa at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships and USA Winter Diving Nationals. Diver Lainey Woodward is a top-10 record holder in the one-meter dive and has been an Academic All-Big Ten honoree for the previous two seasons. Swimmer Olivia Asay is an Academic All-Big Ten honoree, CSC Academic All-District selection and earned the team’s Strength and Conditioning Achievement Award. Swimmer Meredith O’Malley was named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and Co-President of Iowa Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Swimmer Sila Özkazanç anchored the team-leading 800-free relay team at the Big Ten Championships in 2023. Swimmer Leslie Wendel is an Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a CSC Academic All-District selection, and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
MEET HISTORY
Iowa will compete against St. Thomas for the first time. Iowa leads the series, 32-12, against Iowa State, with the most recent win being last season. The Hawkeyes took down the Cyclones, 215-84.
DIVING IN
The Hawkeye divers are making big impacts through the season. In the season opener, senior Lainey Woodward took gold in both the one- and three-meter dives to start the season strong. Woodward set a personal record of 308.15 points in the three-meter. Against No. 24 Minnesota, the group collected seven season bests. Freshman Zita Bernatsky placed second on three-meter, while Woodward clinched silver from the one-meter springboard. Sophomore Stephanie Avram notched season bests in both. At Purdue, Woodward secured bronze in the one-meter and Pauly took fifth in the three-meter. At the Hawkeye Invitational, Woodward, Bernatsky, Swanson, Avram and Pauly all earned personal records. Pauly, Avram and Bernatsky clinched all-time records in platform, while Woodward updated her best in the 1-meter. In the dual against UCLA, all three Hawkeyes advanced to the finals in the one-meter. Woodward clinched third with a total of 571.70 points. Bernatsky came in sixth (542.95 points) and Pauly finished 12th (529.60 points). Against Illinois and Nebraska, Woodward secured first in both the one and three-meter boards. Bernatsky updated her season best and top-10 record on the platform.
B1G ATHLETES TO WATCH
Diver Geneva Pauly and swimmer Olivia Swalley were named the Big Ten Athletes to Watch before the 25-26 season. Pauly, a senior from Colorado, returns to the diving well after placing 10th at the 2025 NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Pauly has updated her best from the platform and now ranks third in school history with 280.55 points. From the 1-meter springboard, Pauly is 10th in school history (312.95). Swalley returns for her junior year after leading the team in four events a season ago. She is the school record holder in the 400 IM (4:10.54). Swalley is second in the 100 breast and 200 IM, while holding the fourth-fastest time in the 200 breast. In total, Swalley won 21 individual races and was a part of three winning relays during the 2024-25 season.
