Erin Doud-Johnson has served as the volunteer assistant coach since 2019.  

Iowa finished the 2023 season with 35 wins, its most since 2009. The Hawkeyes ended the season by winning the National Invitational Softball Championship postseason tournament.

Iowa won 17 games before the 2020 season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. In her first year as a volunteer coach, the Hawkeyes saw their longest winning streak since 2009, stringing together eight straight victories.

Doud-Johnson has helped coach six All-Big Ten selections, four All-Region selections and the first All-America honoree for the Hawkeyes since 2009.  

Prior to coming to Iowa, Doud-Johnson was the head coach at Cedar Rapids Prairie from 2017-19, compiling a 57-25 record, including the school’s most successful season in its history with a record of 29-12 in 2019.  

Doud-Johnson played at Iowa from 1998-2001, appearing in 194 games with 117 starts. She tallied 92 career hits with 30 stolen bases. 

The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native helped Iowa win 185 games in her career and the program’s first Big Ten regular season title in 2001.
