Career — spent the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons on a Mormon mission to Africa.

2010-11 — All-American, placing fifth at his first NCAA Championships… Big Ten runner-up at 197 pounds… posted a 25-7 record, going 13-2 in duals and 7-0 in Big Ten duals… scored 52 team points in dual competition… went 7-1 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena… recorded eight major decisions, which led team, two pins and one technical fall… placed seventh at Midlands Championships… named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Feb. 22 after his 7-4 win over Minnesota’s Sonny Yohn helped the Hawkeyes win their fourth-straight Big Ten regular season title… academic all-Big Ten… earned team John & Dorothy Sill Award, which is presented to team’s most dedicated wrestler, and All-America award… letterwinner.

2009-10 — recorded a 20-13 mark at 197 pounds… posted a 7-7 dual record, going 5-3 in Big Ten duals, while wrestling for injured starter Chad Beatty… was 4-1 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena… scored 21 team points in dual competition… placed second at Wisconsin Open, third at Harold Nichols Open and fourth at Kaufman-Brand Open… letterwinner.

2008-09 — posted a 4-2 record at 197 pounds, going 1-2 in dual matches… won Duhawk Open title while competing unattached… earned team coaches appreciation award… letterwinner.

2007-08 — redshirted… posted an 8-6 record at 197 pounds while wrestling unattached… placed third at Jim Fox Open, fourth at Harold Nichols/Cyclone Open and sixth at Kaufman-Brand Open.

2004-05 — posted a 12-17 season record at 174 pounds… went 2-11 in dual matches and 0-6 in Big Ten duals… scored nine team points in dual competition… went 2-3 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena… earned coaches appreciation team award… letterwinner.

High School — prep career record was 161-8, including undefeated seasons as a sophomore (41-0) and junior (43-0)… three-time state champion… three-time Utah state wrestler of the year, earning state freshman of the year honors in 2001 and male athlete of the year honors as a senior… three-time upper weight OW at state tournament… named OW at every tournament he competed at senior year… set school records for most wins in a season (44) and career (161), least career losses (8), consecutive falls (35) and most falls in a season (41) and career (123)… did not give up a takedown as a junior… won 100 consecutive matches in his career… compiled most pins at 2003 Beast of the East Tournament… team won state title his sophomore year and placed second his senior year… won Rocky Mountain National Tournament as a senior and National Open as a freshman… lettered four years in wrestling and three in football and baseball… Wrestling USA academic all-American as a senior… academic all-state in wrestling, football and baseball… all-state and team captain in football, earning all-region honors in baseball… graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average… National Honor Society member and high honor roll student… wrestling coach was Davie Swensen.

Personal — born October 1, 1985… son of Lyle and Julee Lofthouse… his nephew, Ethen, is also a member of the Hawkeye wrestling team… interdepartmental studies major.
