Alex Harmer

TitleAssistant Coach, Strength & Conditioning

Alex Harmer joined the Iowa Wrestling staff as strength and conditioning coach in August 2021.

Harmer previously worked as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer at Performance Health and Fitness in Coralville, Iowa. Prior to that position, he held strength and conditioning positions at Minnesota State, Iowa, North Dakota State, Wartburg and Iowa State.

Harmer was a strength and conditioning assistant at Minnesota State University from 2017-2019, working with their wrestling, football, women’s basketball, baseball and cheer programs. He worked with volleyball, rowing and diving during an internship at the University of Iowa in 2017, and 2016 he was a strength and condition intern for the NDSU football program.

Harmer was a strength and conditioning intern at his Alma Mater, Wartburg College, in 2016. He played football for the Knights and earned a bachelor of arts from Wartburg in 2016. Harmer earned his master’s degree in coaching and administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2019.
