2025 -- Indoor - B1G Champion in 600 meters, running a collegiate-best 1:28.18... that time ranks fourth all-time at Iowa... ran collegiate bests in 400 meters at Tyson Invite (54.55) and 800 meters at Meyo Invite (2:11.12).

2024 -- Indoor - Ran season bests in 400 meters (55.11) and 600 meters (1:29.18) at New Mexico Collegiate Classic... placed third in 600 meters at B1G Championships (1:29.22)... Outdoor - Ran a collegiate-best 2:11.14 in 800 meters at Drake Relays... ran third leg on team-leading distance medley relay at Drake Relays (11:59.28)... Academic All-Big Ten... letterwinner.

2023 -- Indoor – Placed third in 600 meters with a season-best 1:28.47 at Meyo Invite... placed fourth in 600 meters at B1G Championships (1:29.12)... ran season-best 400 meters at Music City Challenge (55.58)... Outdoor – Did not compete… Dean’s List student (Fall 2022)… letterwinner… Cross Country – Ran collegiate-best 4,000 meters at Hawkeye Invite (15:42.8)… Academic All-Big Ten… letterwinner.

High School -- Four-time Iowa state champion in track (sprint medley and distance medley relays in 2021, 400 meters and sprint medley relay in 2022)… 11-time state medalist in track… 10-time Drake Relays qualifier and 2022 400-meter Drake Relays Champion… three-time state cross country qualifier, finishing 19th as a senior and was named All-Metro Athlete of the Year… three-time team MVP in cross country and two-time team MVP in track… three-time All-Metro selection for track and four-time elite all-state in track… 16-time first-team all-conference honoree in track… set school records in 200 meters (25.3), 400 meters (55.27), 800 meters (2:11) and as part of five relays (400-meter, 800-meter, 1,600-meter, sprint medley, and distance medley)… coached by Bill Schwarz and Michael Tierney… member of Key Club, CR Youth Leadership Program, National Honors Society, and Science National Honors Society. 

Personal -- Born October 13, 2003… parents are Tim and Nancy Cortez… has two siblings – Colton and Brady… exercise science major.
