Sydnie Smith Season 2024-25

2024 — Indoor – did not compete… Outdoor –placed second in discus with a collegiate-best 163-4 (49.80m) at Musco Twilight… that mark ranks eighth all-time at Iowa… won discus at Jim Duncan Invite (154-1, 46.96m) and placed ninth at B1G Championships (161-6, 49.22m)… letterwinner.

High School — discus state champion in 2023… discus state runner-up in 2021… shot put fourth place in 2023… three-time all-conference, all-district, and all-state… three-time conference champion in both the discus and shot put (2021-2023)… shot put (42′ 3″) and discus (153′) school record holder set in 2023…three-time team MVP… coached by Carelton McGrady and Jammie Hayes… participated in the 2023 New Balance Nationals and placed 6th in the discus/11th in the shot put… four-year letterwinner in basketball, three-year letterwinner in volleyball… four-time academic all-state.

 

Personal — born December 22, 2004… parents are John and Brooke Smith… father John played football at Mount Union… mother Brooke played volleyball at Akron… two siblings, twin sister Ellie and brother Alex… relative Tom ran track at Ohio University and played football at Mount Union… relative Katie played basketball at Ohio University and in the WNBA before becoming an Olympian WNBA coach for the Minnesota Lynx… relative Carolan played basketball at Minnesota… has one cousin that plays football at Yale… biology major.
