Hawkeyes Continue Strong at Hoosier Classic

Bloomington, IN -- The Iowa women’s tennis team continued strongly on the second day of the Hoosier Classic, recording six more victories.

Hillary Mintz easily defeated Paulina Castillejos of Kansas State, 6-0, 6-0. She will play in the championship match for Flight C against Laura McGaffigan of Indiana.

In Flight E singles, Hilde Jansma recorded a victory over Judith Diaz of Kansas State, 7-5, 6-1. Jennifer Hodgman received a win by default over Indiana’s Sarah Batty.

In doubles play, Hilary Tyler and Mintz won two matches. They beat Taylor and Gogol of Louisville, 8-5 and then took Missouri’s Barry and Josbena, 8-6, for a fifth place finish in Flight #1. Gloria Okino and Hodgman lost to Lask and Lask of Murray State, but then came back to defeat Murray State’s Spencer and Leeper, 8-6.

The Hoosier Classic will conclude Sunday.
