Hawkeyes in Eighth After Day Two

COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 313 to total 936 strokes on the weekend to finish the second day of the Big Ten Championships in eighth. Indiana took over the top of standings over the host Ohio State with a round of 299. The Hoosiers have a total of 904 strokes, two ahead of the Buckeyes going into the final day of competition.

Leading the way for the Hawkeyes after the second day is junior Liz Bennett. Bennett fired an 81 today, which places her 16th. Junior Shannon Fleming has a three-round total of 234, which ties her for 17th. Fleming’s round of 76 jumped her from toe for 29th at the beginning of competition today. Senior Laura Holmes carded an 82 today, which leaves her with a total of 236 and ties her for 25th. Freshman Amy Riepma continues to improve by two strokes each round to card a 77, which totals her with 237 strokes and a tie for 27th. Senior Jennifer Reints has a 54-hole total of 242 to finish the day in 41st. Freshman Virginie Bonfils is tied for 57th with a 250. Individually Indiana’s Danah Ford is leading the tournament. Ford shot a two-under 70 today coming from third at the beginning of the day to lead the field going into the final day of competition.
