University of Iowa swimming and diving travels to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to compete in the Big Ten Championships from Feb. 18-21 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. Action will begin at 4 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. (CT) Thursday through Saturday, with finals at 5:30 p.m. (CT) each day.

LAST TIME OUT
In the home finale and senior night meet, Iowa took home the victory, defeating St. Thomas 182-42. Iowa won nine Individual events - the 50 free (Jenna Kerr, 24.03), 100 free (Jenna Kerr, 51.14), 100 fly (Payton Flowers, 55.13), 100 breaststroke (Emilie Mosner, 1:04.04), 200 free (Josie Hood, 1:52.43), 200 IM (Olivia Swalley, 2:04.51), 500 free (Olivia Frantum, 5:03.62), 1-meter (Lainey Woodward, 304.60) and 3-meter dives (Geneva Pauly, 313.85, SB) and both relays. The Hawkeyes honored seven seniors prior to the meet: Olivia Asay, Meredith O’Malley, Sila Ozkazanc, Geneva Pauly, manager Lauren Trent, Leslie Wendel and Lainey Woodward. In the 200 IM freshman Willa Hage notched a personal best (2:06.90), while junior Hope Schimming updated her season best (2:10.10). In the 200 free relay, the quartet of Flowers, Dildine, Kelly and Olen updated their season-best time to 1:33.58. The Hawkeyes secured the victory in its regular season finale against in-state rival Iowa State, 194-105, in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series. Senior diver Lainey Woodward highlighted the day with a pair of wins from the springboards. Woodward moved up to 8th in Iowa’s record book off the one-meter with 317.63 points. Iowa tallied 12 individual event wins throughout the meet and secured first place in both relays. Iowa finished the regular season with a 5-3 overall record.
2025 B1G CHAMPIONSHIPS
Iowa swimming and diving finished 14th overall with a total 158.50 points at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Current junior Olivia Swalley finished the 400 IM B Final in 12th with a final time of 4:10.91 on the third day of compeition. During the final day, the Hawkeyes made four updates to the program top-10 list. In the 100 free, current sophomore Rachel Dildine notched 4th all-time at Iowa, swimming 49.91. During the 200 back prelims, current junior Hope Schimming swam 1:57.41 to place 6th all-time at Iowa. Current junior Josie Hood competed in the 200 fly, where she secured 10th all-time at Iowa in 2:02.17 and alum Alix O’Brien notched 9th all-time at Iowa in the 1,650 free, swimming 16:40.07.
DIVING IN
The Hawkeye divers are making big impacts through the season. In the season opener, senior Lainey Woodward took gold in both the one- and three-meter dives. Against No. 24 Minnesota, the group collected seven season bests. Freshman Zita Bernatsky placed second on three-meter, while Woodward clinched silver from the one-meter. At Purdue, Woodward secured bronze in the one-meter. At the Hawkeye Invitational, Woodward, Bernatsky, Swanson, Avram and Pauly all earned personal records. Pauly, Avram and Bernatsky clinched all-time records in platform, while Woodward updated her best in the 1-meter. In the dual against UCLA, all three Hawkeyes advanced to the finals in the one-meter. Woodward clinched third with a total of 571.70 points. Bernatsky came in sixth (542.95 points) and Pauly finished 12th (529.60 points). Against Illinois and Nebraska, Woodward secured first in both the one and three-meter boards. Bernatsky updated her season best and top-10 record on the platform. Against St. Thomas, the senior duo of Lainey Woodward and Geneva Paul swept the springboard compeitions. Woodward placed first (304.60) from the one-meter and Pauly notched a season-best 313.85 from three meters. Woodward swept both springboards against in-state rival, Iowa State. Off one-meter, Woodward climbed up Iowa’s all-time record book. Woodward sits at 8th all-time (317.63).
B1G ATHLETES TO WATCH
Diver Geneva Pauly and swimmer Olivia Swalley were named the Big Ten Athletes to Watch before the 25-26 season. Pauly, a senior from Colorado, returns to the diving well after placing 10th at the 2025 NCAA Zone Diving Championships. Pauly has updated her best from the platform and now ranks third in school history with 280.55 points. From the 1-meter springboard, Pauly is 10th in school history (312.95). Swalley returns for her junior year after leading the team in four events a season ago. She is the school record holder in the 400 IM (4:10.54). Swalley is second in the 100 breast and 200 IM, while holding the fourth-fastest time in the 200 breast. In total, Swalley won 21 individual races and was a part of three winning relays during the 2024-25 season.

The Hawkeyes have combined for 17 top-10 program performances so far in the 2025-26 season.

UP NEXT
University of Iowa divers will head to College Station, Texas, to compete in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. The meet will take place March 9-11 at the Rec Center Natatorium on the Texas A&M campus.
