FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Iowa sprinters Darwin Jimenez and Kalen Walker, along with the women’s 4x400-meter relay team, earned first-team All-America honors at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Center on Saturday.

“We had an incredible day today with Kalen and Darwin in the 60-meter finals,” Iowa Director of Track and Field Joey Woody said. “Both came in on a mission and competed extremely well, finishing third and sixth, while earning first team All-America honors.”

Walker became a two-time first-team honoree after placing third in the men’s 60 meters in 6.56. He ends his indoor career as a three-time All-American in the 60 meters and school record holder (6.50). Jimenez, in his first season as a Hawkeye, earned All-America status after placing sixth in 6.58. He closes indoor season No. 2 on Iowa’s all-time list.

“Kalen finished his incredible indoor career with two top-three finishes in the 60 meters,” Woody added. “I’m so proud of Darwin for showing up in January with a chip on his shoulder and on a mission to prove he’s one of the best sprinters in the NCAA. He showed that today.”

The women’s 4x400-meter relay team of Alivia Williams, Izzy Zahn, Damaris Mutunga, and Chioma Nwachukwu earned first-team All-America status and set a school record with their 3:29.63 finish. Returning to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2022, the relay team earned a spot on the podium with a sixth-place finish.

“The women’s 4x400-meter relay team competed extremely well today,” Woody noted. “They had a goal from the beginning of the season to earn first team All-America honors, and they did that, along with breaking the school record again. They wouldn’t have done it without teammates Olicia Lucas and Gabby Cortez, who ran on the qualifying team to get to this meet.”

Iowa’s men’s team placed 10th overall with 19 points. The women’s team collected three points.

“The men finished the weekend in the top 10 for the second time in three years,” Woody said. “That’s an amazing accomplishment considering the state of the NCAA right now. I’m proud of our staff and athletes for an incredible season and to see everyone competing at their best in the final meet of the year says a lot about our program.”
