EUGENE, Ore. — University of Iowa senior Troy Doris advanced to the triple jump finals at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Thursday. Doris placed ninth with a mark of 53-10 ½ (16.42m). The top 12 finishers advanced through the preliminary round to compete in the finals Saturday at 6:40 p.m. (CT).
Junior Ethan Holmes is also making a run at making the United States Olympic team. The Clinton, Iowa, native will compete in the 110-meter hurdles today at 6:05 p.m. Holmes is one of 32 athletes competing in the event. The top 18 will advance to the semifinals.
The 2012 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team Trials are being held at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Complete results can be found at gotracktownusa.com.
