2017 Honors — Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient… Academic All-Big Ten honoree. 2017 — One of four team captains… appeared in 25 games, primarily a pinch-runner… started three games — two in left field and one at third base… hit .190 with 13 runs and three RBIs… scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning in Iowa’s 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Omaha (5/16)… hit a game-tying, three-run home run on Senior Day in Iowa’s 11-10 come-from-behind victory over Ohio State (5/14)… it was his second career home run and first RBIs of 2017… scored the game-winning run in Iowa’s walk-off 4-3 victory over Milwaukee on April 25… earned his first start of the season at third base in series finale at Northwestern… finished 1-for-3 with a run scored.

2016 — Started 21 games — 10 as an outfielder, nine at third base, and two at first base — and appeared in 39 contests… hit .164 with 11 runs and five RBIs… tallied his second multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored in series finale against No. 18/21 Michigan (4/24)… went 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI against Northwestern College (3/8) for his first career multi-hit game… started all three games at third base at Dallas Baptist (2/19-21)… collected hits in 2-of-3 games and belted his first career home run — a solo shot — in game two of the series.

2015 — Appeared in 15 games, primarily as a pinch runner… made one start at third base… hit .167 (1-for-6) with five runs scored… scored the game-winning run in Iowa’s 4-3 come-from-behind victory over Northwestern (4/17)… made his first career start against Milwaukee (4/8) at third base… delivered a pinch-hit single in his first at-bat as a Hawkeye on March 16 at Houston Baptist… scored his first career run March 21 at Kansas.

At Heartland CC (2014) — Batted .309 (51-of-165) over 52 games with 50 starts… scored 46 runs and had 31 RBIs… finished with 14 doubles, four triples, and two home runs, while posting a .500 slugging and .419 on-base percentage… drew 29 walks and was 23-of-26 on the base paths… helped team to fifth-straight Mid-West Athletic Conference title, finishing 43-13 overall and 24-8 in conference… academic all-conference selection.

High School — 2013 Perfect Game Central Region honorable-mention selection… 2012 Perfect Game underclass honorable mention… three-time all-conference and All-Metro honoree… first-team all-conference and All-Metro as a senior, leading team to state tournament… hit for the cycle as a senior… hit .371 with three homers and 27 RBIs as the starting third baseman as a sophomore in 2011… batted .300 with two homers and 24 RBIs as the starting shortstop as a junior… also went 3-3 with a 4.16 ERA on the hill… three-year letterwinner in baseball and two-year letterwinner in football and basketball… was an first-team elite all-state selection in football… holds school single-season and career records in touchdowns receiving, receptions, and receiving yards… honor roll from 2011-13… high school coach was Dave Schemmel.

Personal — Born Jan. 17, 1995… son of Curt and Karen Woods… father, Curt, played baseball at Iowa State… brother, Nate, played Division I baseball at Belmont University and competed in the minor leagues… one of his uncles is former Hawkeye and MLB pitcher Mike Boddicker…. his late grandfather, Ken Charipar was an assistant coach at Iowa… has two older siblings, Nate and Shelby… majoring in enterprise leadership.
