at World University Games (2017) — Started all seven games — five in left field and two as designated hitter… hit .308 (8-of-26) with 11 RBIs and five runs scored… hit safely in five games with two multi-hit contests… hit a bases-clearing, three-run double in the ninth-inning rally over Korea (8/26)… went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs, and two runs against Russia (8/22)… went 1-for-3 with two RBIs against Czech Republic (8/25), and 1-for-4 with two RBIs in semifinal victory over Czech Republic (8/28).

At Parkland College (2016) — Hit .299 with 40 hits, six doubles and a home run… scored 37 runs, had 30 RBIs, and posted a .420 on-base percentage… had just 17 strikeouts in 134 at-bats… had 10 multi-hit games on the year… helped team to a regional championship and World Series appearance, finishing eighth in the nation… was primarily the team’s second baseman.

At Bradley (2015) — Received a medical redshirt… member of the MVC Honor Roll.

High School — ESCC Offensive Player of the Year as a senior after hitting .434 with 20 extra-base hits, 26 RBIs, 31 runs, and two home runs… Team Most Valuable Player… also earned all-state and all-area honors… two-time ESCC All-Conference selection… was president of the bowling club as a senior… high school coach was Scott Lawler.

Personal — Born June 12, 1996, in Chicago… son of Michael and Mary Ellen Whelan… has three sibings, Pat, Tim, and Mary Kate… uncle, Tim Shanley, swam collegiately at Michigan State… majoring in history.
