Former Hawkeye player Elise van Heuvelen Treadwell is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach at the University of Iowa.
During her three seasons on staff, van Heuvelen Treadwell has helped guide the team to 37 dual wins and four players have garnered All-Big Ten recognition. Iowa advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010 during the 2025 season.
The Hawkeyes posted five victories over ranked opponents during the 2025 season, including a 4-3 road win at No. 38 Northwestern. It was the program's third win all-time over the Wildcats and the first since 1992.
Iowa finished with 13 wins and was ranked 32nd in the final ITA team rankings. The team was ranked as high as No. 28 on April 1, the highest ranking for the program since 2010. Junior Daianne Hayashida garnered first-team All-Big Ten honors, while junior Tereza Dejnozkova earned second-team distinction.
During the course of the season, van Heuvelen Treadwell coached Dejnozkova to a third-place finish at the ITA Central Regionals in October -- the highest ITA finish by a Hawkeye all-time. She also guided Hayashida to the consolation singles title at the ITA Sectionals in November. Hayashida ended her junior season with a ITA singles ranking of 109, while Dejnozkova and Nikita Vishwase were the 81st ranked doubles tandem nationally.
In the classroom, the Hawkeyes have continued to excel under van Heuvelen Treadwell's watch. Iowa finished with a 3.60 team grade point average in both the fall and spring semesters, had four student-athletes garner CSC Academic All-District honors and six players earn Academic All-Big Ten distinction.
During the 2024 season, Iowa posted 11 victories with a pair of wins over ranked foes. The team was ranked in the ITA team rankings for a majority of the season, climbing as high as No. 61.
Iowa tallied a ranked road win at No. 75 Nebraska on March 10 before following with a 4-2 victory over No. 34 Illinois at the HTRC at week later. Hayashida earned All-Big Ten honors and climbed as high as No. 85 in the ITA singles rankings. The doubles tandem of Hayashida and senior Vipasha Mehra were ranked as high at No. 66.
During the fall, Hayashida advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships — a first by a Hawkeye since 2019 — and she competed in the main draw of the ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
In her first season in a coaching capacity, van Heuvelen Treadwell led Iowa to 13 wins, including seven over ranked opponents. The Hawkeyes defended their home court, winning seven of nine matches at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex, including five of their final six contests. van Heuvelen Treadweill returned to Iowa City as a member of the coaching staff after serving as assistant coach at Delaware. She began her coaching career during the fall of 2021 as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hawkeyes.
