The Iowa Hawkeyes will compete in the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Prelims from May 28–31 in College Station, Texas. Events will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required). Live results links, updates and recaps can be found on the Iowa Track & Field schedule page on hawkeyesports.com.

QUALIFIER CLUB

University of Iowa track and field qualified 35 entries (18 women’s, 17 men’s) to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West First Rounds in College Station, Texas. Athletes earn a berth to the NCAA preliminaries by ranking within the top 48 of their respective individual events. The fastest 24 relays qualify to the NCAA West First Rounds.

2025 NEWS

  • Senior sprinter Kalen Walker became an individual Big Ten champion for the first time in his career, winning the 100 meters in 10.17 at Hayward Field.
  • Freshman Pauline Bikembo concluded day two of the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a school record in the women’s heptathlon with 5,722 points. Bikembo earned two personal bests and three top-five finishes to place fifth overall.
  • Sophomore Kai Graves-Blanks locked in a second-place finish in finals of the 110-meter hurdles with a personal best of 13.51, improving the seventh-fastest time in school history.
  • Iowa earned silver medals in the men’s and women’s 4x400-meter relays. The women’s quartet of Alivia Williams, Damaris Mutunga, Olicia Lucas and Chioma Nwachukwu posted the program’s fourth-fastest time in its runner-up finish of 3:31.54. On the men’s side, Landon Fontenot, Tyrese Miller, Terrick Johnson and Zidane Brown wrapped up the final in 3:04.63.
  • Sophomore Daniela Wamokpego hit the 13.36-meter mark, achieving a personal best and tying second all-time at Iowa in the triple jump. She took home the bronze.
  • In the high jump, freshman Maria Arboleda jumped 1.81 meters, while Lizzy Korczak claimed the bronze in the javelin at 55.25 meters. The group picked up 21 points for the Hawkeyes.
  • Stein earned the silver medal in the men’s javelin, posting a best mark of 77.41 meters. Three of his throws sailed over 75 meters.
  • The Hawkeyes took home the women’s Drake Relays Cup for the first time since 2019.
  • At the Drake Relays, the 4x800-meter relay team of Derek Leicht, James Fingalsen, Ryan Schreiner and Terrick Johnson set a then world-leading time of 7:21.88 to secure the event title for the first time since 2017. The group's time ranks third at Iowa.
  • The women’s sprint medley team of Holly Duax, Lia Love, Damaris Mutunga and Alli Bookin-Nosbisch secured an event win and a school record at Drake with a time of 3:44.12.
  • Freshman Bryce Ruland climbed the all-time list with his 57.62-meter throw, ranking eighth all-time at Iowa and securing first place. On the women’s side, Sydnie Smith launched a 52.30-meter throw that earned her the gold at Drake.
  • Duax earned two flags at the Drake Relays in the sprint medley and 100-meters, where she clocked in an 11.98 finish.
  • Kai Graves-Blanks cruised through the 110-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 13.61, ranking seventh all-time in program history. He returned in the finals to claim gold, improving his mark to 13.59.

LAST TIME OUT

The University of Iowa track and field team had a successful weekend in Eugene, Oregon, at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. The men placed seventh with 59 points, while the women scored 47 points and finished in eighth place. The action was highlighted by senior sprinter Kalen Walker who became a Big Ten champion for the first time in his career winning the 100 meters in 10.17 at Hayward Field. HAWKEYES RETURN TO NCAA WEST PRELIMINARY

Last season, Iowa qualified 35 entries, including standouts Kalen Walker, Mike Stein, Lia Love, and Alli Bookin-Nosbisch. Other qualifiers included Kalil Johnson, Isaac Lewis, Caleb Levy, Hayden Kuhn, Precious Irivi, Sean Smith, Austin Busch, Annie Wirth, Maud Zeffou-Poaty, Daniela Wamokpego, Wisdom Williams, and Lizzy Korczak all competing for a chance to reach the national stage.

HAWKEYES WIN WOMEN’S DRAKE RELAY CUP

The University of Iowa track and field team concluded an incredible weekend of competition at the Drake Relays, winning the women’s Drake Relays Cup for the second time in program history. The Hawkeyes had first-place finishes in the women’s sprint medley, the women’s 4x400 relay invitational and open. The women’s sprint medley team of Holly Duax, Lia Love, Damaris Mutunga and Alli Bookin-Nosbisch secured an event win and a school record with its time of 3:44.12. The women’s 4x400 relay invitational was dominated by Alivia Williams, Olicia Lucas, Mutunga and Chioma Nwachukwu, finishing in 3:31.13. This marks Iowa’s first 4x400-relay win at the Drake Relays.
